Learn what a developing hazard means and how to approach the video part of the car theory test.

Spot a developing situation

A developing hazard is something that would make you change speed or direction. For example, a vehicle beginning to pull out could require you to slow down.

Understand the format

The car test uses 14 video clips of road scenes. Each contains a developing hazard, and one has two. You can earn up to five points for each hazard.

Practise responding naturally

Click when you notice a hazard developing. Continuous or patterned clicking can result in no score for a clip. Use practice material to understand timing and observation rather than memorising a clicking pattern.
